  • Be thinking about a position of leadership..... Troop 1 elections are coming up in the next 2 or 3 weeks.

  • September 4th we are gathering at 9:00 am at Grace Episcopal Church for a Flag Fundraiser sale.

  • September 13th at 6:30 pm is our Regular Meeting in the scout room at Grace Episcopal Church.

  • September 17-19 We are heading to Mammoth Cave for an overnight canoe trip on the Green River.

  • October 15-17 Troop 1 is heading to Louisville for the KY State Jamboree.

  • November 6th is Merit Badge Day at Murray State University.

Recent News and Events.

  • June 18 - July 2 Two full crews of 12 headed out to Philmont, the Boy Scouts of America's Premier High Adventure Base, which encompasses more than 214 square miles of rugged northern New Mexico wilderness for a 12 day long backpacking trek. (More Details and pictures soon)

  • June 6-12 was our week long Summer Camp at Camp Roy C. Manchester on beautiful Kentucky Lake. Congratulations to the 30+ scouts that attended and Thank You to the many adults that came down to help out and enjoy the fun!  We had the largest crew and over 200 merit badges were earned!  Troop 1 took 1st place in the Troop Swim, 2nd place in the Troop Shoot, 3rd place in the Troop Volleyball Tournament, 1st place in the Scoutmaster Shoot, and (in keeping with Troop 1 tradition) we marched our way to flags with our drums and campaign hats each day.  GREAT JOB EVERYONE!   • May 14-16 We headed to Goreville, Illinois and camped at Fern Clyffe State Park.  We rode 18 miles on the Tunnel Hill Bike Trail and hiked "Big Rocky Hollow Trail"  which ended at a massive 100ft. waterfall.

  • April 16-17  was the Troop 1 Yard Sale fundraiser. The Scouts brought lots of stuff to sell and camped out on the church playground.  When all was said and done, we had raised over $1800.00.  Half of the proceeds went to the troop.  The other half went to the Scouts that helped work the yard sale in the form of "Scout Bucks" which they can use to pay for anything scouting.

  • April 18  was the "Bike the Dogwood Trail"  bike ride.  Troop 1 met at Bike World and biked the 11 mile Dogwood Trail with other members of the community.  It was announced that this year was the best turn-out for the event ever.

  • April 9-11  was the Scout-O-Rama at Stewart Nelson Park in Paducah.  Troop 1 was the anchor troop for the event and several scouts appeared on the nightly news.  We built a 100+ ft. rope bridge which was a hit with all the Cub Scouts.  See Photos

  • The 5th Annual Indian Mounds District Pinewood Derby was hosted by Troop 1 on March 27 in the Dillard's Court at Ky. Oaks Mall. Close to One Hundred Cub Scouts registered and participated in the race.  We had about 10 boys set up and run the race.  We gave every Cub Scout that participated a trophy and a custom custom 2010 DPWD 'Hosted by Troop1' patch.  See Photos

  • Pathfinder VII was March 19th to the 21st.  We had 8 teams who participated in the Pathfinder Event and 12 Scouts signed up for the introduction course.  Congratulations to Mr. Kiser and Adam for winning 1st place in the adult division!  And Congratulations to Mr. Snyder, Dakota, Allan, and Travis for winning 2nd place in the cobbler competition.  Remember there were nearly 20 cobblers in the competition!

  • Troop 1 participated in the EEI Merit Badge Day on February 27th and for the second year in a row won the "Troop Spirit Award".

  • Scout Sunday was January 31st at Grace Episcopal.  The troop made a good showing with all scouts and leaders wearing Class A uniforms.  Several scouts participated in the service.  Afterward Troop 1 hosted a reception and a display to commemorate the troop's history and upcoming 100th anniversary.

  • Troop 1 had three patrols participate in the Klondike Derby at Camp Roy C. Manchester on January 16.  The Ravens won 2nd Place overall out of 21 patrols.  Each patrol won first in at least one event.  We had 19 scouts, 2 Webelos and 10 adults.

Other Reminders

  • Photos are now available on website.     See Photos!

  • Scouts are encouraged to bring aluminum cans to the Scout Room. We will receive .75 cents per pound to help pay for outings. The cans need to be rinsed, crushed and bagged.
