Troop 1 – Paducah KY

100th Year in 2010

The Boy Scouts of America will be celebrating its 100th anniversary in 2010 and Troop 1 of Paducah will be celebrating its 100th year in Scouting as well.  Scouting arrived in America from England in 1910.  Troop 1 was chartered shortly thereafter in early 1911 and we have continued to be chartered every year since.  As a result, Troop 1 of Paducah is the 7th oldest continuously chartered troop in America!

Troop 1 will be planning many ways to celebrate its 100th year in Scouting throughout 2010.  Check this page often to see what is being planned.

Our 100th Year Events and Projects include:

bulletTroop 1 is sponsoring the painting of a Scouting mural on the Paducah downtown floodwall.  Click here to see some of the Paducah floodwall murals.

The new Scouting mural will be located near the train caboose at the back of the Carson Center.  It will recognize the importance of scouting to the area over the past 100 years.  This project will cost up to $16,000, and Troop 1 is seeking donations from individuals who would like to help the troop create this permanent tribute to scouting in Paducah.  Checks can be made payable to Troop 1 Scouting Mural and mailed to David Perry, c/o Owen Cleaners, 2858 Lone Oak Road, Paducah, KY  42003.

Troop 1 will conduct a round-up of alumni of the troop over the past 100 years.  Our plans are to enhance this website to help former members stay in touch with other alumni.  More coming soon!

In addition to our local troop 100th year celebration, the Boy Scouts of America will be celebrating its 100th anniversary in 2010.  Click here to learn more.
