on December 14 at Cardinal Lanes.

The troop
rang the bell
for the Salvation Army twice in December in front of the Wal-Mart on
Hinkleville Road.

A
Court of Honor
was held on November 24. Nineteen
scouts received over 40 merit badges and rank advancements.

Thanks to the
17 scouts and 8 adults who helped Saturday, November 22 at Krogers on the
Groceries for the Good
food drive. Ten agencies will benefit from everyone's help. Not only did
the boys help with the donations, they picked up some grocery sacking skills
for summer job opportunities down the road! Over 74 hours of service hours
were contributed Saturday!

About 10
scouts camped overnight at Massac
State Park on November 15.

We had 20 scouts attend the
Murray State Merit Badge Day
on November 1. The troop came away with 16 merit badges and
four partials. Thanks go to the parents who drove -- Kirk Edwards,
Mike Wentworth and Stanley Reed. Mike gets an honorary MB as he was
in Citizenship in the Nation all day!! Our Scouts led the opening
and closing Flag Ceremony...GREAT Job!

Thanks to Mr. Edwards for coordinating
the Golf Merit Badge
outing this past Saturday, October 25. Eight scouts played golf at
Paxton Park until almost dark. Four adults helped out.

Thanks to the
8 scouts who sold over $3,000 worth of
popcorn. Scouts will receive 25% of
their sales in Troop 1 Scout bucks for future events and fees. We want to
thank Wendy Snyder for handling the popcorn sales and orders.

Thanks to
everyone for a GREAT Fall Camporee at
Wildcat Hollow in Russellville, KY in
October. We had 18 Scouts and 9 adults make the trip. Weather was GREAT!
Food was GREAT! The Camporee was well attended as we competed with 20
Troops with over 300 folks in attendance. Congratulations to Carson and
Lucas who captured FIRST PLACE
in the Orienteering Competition.
They were the only team to get 100% of the readings correct! Also,
congratulations to Colin and Adam for finishing
4th in the Canoe race!
Both of these competitions had over 30 teams competing.

Troop 1 was
again featured on WPSD-TV following the aftermath of
Tropical Storm Ike as
it moved through Kentucky. The troop was camping at the
Columbus-Belmont State Park when high winds from the storm hit the area.

A
Court of Honor
was held on August 25th. There were
88 merit badges
awarded and many rank advancements.
Mr. Kiser congratulated all scouts for their efforts during summer camp and
throughout the summer. 12 Scouts earned the Tenderfoot rank. One
Eagle Scout earned his second gold
palm which equates to 25 additional
merit badges earned above the 21 needed for Eagle.

18 scouts and
five adult leaders attended a Miners baseball
game on Saturday, August 16th.
The Miners won the game with a grand slam in the bottom of the ninth inning.
After the game everyone camped out at Fern Clyffe State Park. The
troop returned to Paducah on Sunday morning.

In July, 18
White Water Rafters
made it down the Ocoee River
in Tennessee. Everyone got dumped in the waster at one time or
another. Scouts earned their Whitewater and Canoeing merit badges.
Pictures will be provided on a CD and hopefully posted on the website.
Special thanks go to the Dads who drove -- Mr. Kiser, Mr. Kight, Mr. Thorn and
Dr. Stricklin. It was a 650 mile round trip.

Troop 1
completed another great week at Scout
Camp in early June. We had 21 scouts
and many adults come down to join the fun. We were on the low end of the
ticks removed at the medic's office (one troop had 125 removed in one day).
Eight scouts participated in Eagle Bound, 1 scout did the "Adventure
Sailing" and many others earned merit badges. We captured first in the
Pentathlon, retired the colors at flags, said grace and marched our way to
flags with the drums each day (a Troop 1 Tradition)!

Congratulations to all scouts receiving rank advancements and merit badges
at the
Court of Honor
on May 19. Eight scouts made the
Scout rank. One made Tenderfoot and two made Second Class. One
made First Class and one made Life. Five scouts and leaders were
tapped out for the Order of the Arrow.

Thanks to the
8 scouts who went to Pack 22's Blue and Gold Banquet and welcomed
3 new scouts
into Troop 1. Don't forget to ask someone to visit our meeting sometime.

attended the EEI Merit Badge Day
on February 23rd.

10 Scouts attended a
Webeloes Crossover
ceremony at Pack 19 on Saturday, February 23rd.
4 Webeloes
crossed over and joined the troop.

Troop 1
participated in Scout Sunday
on February 3rd at Grace Episcopal Church. All scouts wore Class A
uniforms and sat at the front of the church. Scouts led the bible
readings and group prayers during the service. Our Senior Patrol
Leader and Scoutmaster both thanked Grace Episcopal for sponsoring our troop
since 1911.

The troop participated in the
Klondike Derby
at Camp Manchester the weekend of January 18 - 20.
15 scouts
and 7 adults
endured temperatures
that reached the low teens on both nights, so all scouts earned their
Polar Bear
badge. Troop 1 was featured on a
News Channel 6
story about the Klondike Derby.
