Twenty scouts and leaders had a great time
eating pizza and bowling
on Saturday during the troop's year-end holiday party. Some of the
scouts took lessons from Mr. Edwards who was in the 200 Club!

Troop 1
rang the bell
for the Salvation
Army on Monday,
December 7 and Wednesday, December 9 in front of the Super Wal-Mart
on Hinkleville Rd.

A
Court of Honor
was held on
Monday, November 23.
We had 20 scouts receive 33 rank advancements and merit badges.

Troop 1 participated in
the Groceries for
the Good food
drive by helping with food collections at the Krogers in Hannan Plaza on
November 21.

We had 5 Troop
1 members complete their Red Cross
Wilderness Survival First Aid class at
Lake Glendale the weekend of November 14. This survival training is
required for the troop's certification for
Philmont in 2010.
Congratulations to Nicholas, Bradley, Dr. Baker and Dr. Stricklin and Mr.
Kiser who all passed the test!

20 Scouts
participated the in Murray State Merit
Badge Day on November 7th.

Twelve scouts
and leaders went hiking and camping on the
River to River
trail
near Garden of the Gods in Illinois. This was a training event for
Philmont
in 2010.

We had 12
scouts sell over $2,300
in show-n-sell popcorn.
Scout bucks will be coming for those who participated.

We had a GREAT
weekend at the Fall Camporee
at Roy C. Manchester Scout Camp. We had 14 Scouts, 7 adult leaders and 8
Webeloes plus parents visiting our Troop. Our boys really did well with
Troop 1 winning the BEST Overall
at the event! Key events won by Troop 1 scouts were Canoeing(1st),
Rifle(2nd), Pioneering(1st), Knots(2nd & 3rd), Fire Building, Fastest Scout
and many more. We also had a couple of great chocolate/cherry and blue
berry cobblers. Please congratulate all who participated as they did a
GREAT job!

A
Court of Honor
was held on August 31. Scouts received over
70 merit badges and 10 rank advancements.

Nineteen
scouts and five adults made the 14
mile Canoe Trip on the
Eleven Points River
in Missouri.

Twenty Troop 1
Scouts had a great whitewater rafting
trip in July on the Ocoee River.
Many earned camping nights and their Whitewater merit badges.

Congratulations goes to Chris, our OA Troop Representative, for helping the
Four Feathers Lodge receive the "Lodge
of the Year" Award. He did a good job
getting our participation up as we had 11 Troop 1 members participate at the
OA campout the last weekend in May. One scout became on ordeal member, and
four scouts completed their Brotherhood. The next lodge meeting is
this Thursday.

5 Scouts and
three adults represented Troop 1 in a
5K run that was held at Noble Park on
May 28th.

Six scouts and
Mr. Kiser performed a flag ceremony
at the Culpepper Place assisted living facility on
Memorial Day.

Despite the
Spring Camporee
being cancelled at the last minute, Troop 1 braved the rain and camped at
Camp Roy C. Manchester anyway during the first weekend in May. Scouts
worked on merit badges and rank advancements.

16 scouts plus
two Webeloes attended the one night campout at
Fern Clyffe State Park.
Everyone hiked about 5.5 miles in the rain, experienced a very nice
waterfall and crossed the creeks several times (water-proof does not count
if the water is over your boots). The Saturday night meal was a tasty foil
pack with apple cobbler and "mailbox" corn bread.

The Troop had
a GREAT time at the Pathfinder
event! We had 10 scouts and 8 adults attending with 4 teams competing in
the event! Over 200 people were there with 22 troops represented. Kyle
Stigall teamed with a Venturer scout and they had the best time overall on
the 5+ mile orienteering course...2 hours, 7 minutes. To put that in
perspective, we all made it in the 3.5 hour range. Everyone should make
this trip next year.

Troop 1 won the
Scout Spirit Award
at the recent EEI Merit Badge
day.

Congratulations to Kristian Prather, Andrew
Stricklin and Kyle Stigall who made the rank of
Eagle
on Sunday, March 8.

21 scouts and 12 adults attended the
Klondike Derby
at Camp Manchester the weekend of January 16. Troop 1 had three
patrols pulling sleds in the competition. All earned their
Polar Bear Patch
as temperatures dropped into the low teens on Friday night and upper
twenties on Saturday night.
